Gombe Youth Parliament Joins Forces with DAPHO to Fight Drug Use
The Gombe State Youth Parliament has signaled its readiness to partner with the Drug Free And Preventive Healthcare Organisation (DAPHO) in efforts to curb drug and substance use among young people in the state.

Led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Aliyu Danladi, the Parliament paid a courtesy visit to DAPHO’s office to explore collaboration on harm reduction, HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis awareness, and tackling Gender-Based Violence.
Speaking during the visit, Rt. Hon. Danladi described DAPHO as a “key stakeholder” in promoting healthy lifestyles among youths and noted that both the Parliament and the organisation share common goals. “We see DAPHO as a vital partner in our mission to help young people stay away from drugs,” he said. “We also request that the organisation carry us along during its campaigns and community outreach activities.”
The Youth Parliament is planning a “Hike Against Drug Use” and has invited DAPHO to play a central role in the initiative.
Responding on behalf of DAPHO, Human Resource and Administrative Officer Ms. Linda Tiput commended the Parliament’s proactive approach and pledged the organisation’s full support. “DAPHO is always ready to collaborate with groups that share our vision of a drug-free society,” she said. “We will participate in your upcoming hike by conducting sensitisation sessions, offering HIV and Hepatitis testing, and distributing consumables to participants.”
The partnership reflects a growing push in Gombe State to engage young people in prevention efforts and community-based solutions, signalling hope for stronger advocacy against drug use and its related health risks.
